Are you Delicious?


Let's set up a delicious account.
  1. Go to del.icio.us.com.
  2. Click on "register".
  3. Fill in username, full name, and password. (Hint: Choose a username and password that is easily remembered by you, but not the one you use for banks, etc. Use the same username and password for all your applications.)
  4. Click "register".
At Home, set up a delicious button.
  1. Log in to delicious and your account.
  2. Click on "settings" on the top right.
  3. On the left sidebar, under "Settings" click the blue FAQs hyperlink.
  4. Under "the posting buttons", click on "How do I install the buttons again, now that I'm using a different browser or computer?"
  5. Follow the directions to load buttons onto your browser toolbar. Start at "Step Two of Installation" at the top of the page.
  6. Use "tag" when you are on a website that you want to keep. Be sure to network to other people who would be interested in the same site. Use "delicious" when you want to quickly link to your account.

Let's set up a twitter account.
  1. Go to twitter.com.
  2. Click on "Join for Free" on the right sidebar.
  3. Fill in username, full name, and password. (Hint: Use the same username and password you used for delicious.)
  4. Add your e-mail address. (You might want to create an e-mail account just for all your applications. I use my Herricks e-mail address but have a folder for passwords and applications.)
  5. Click "I accept. Create my account".
  6. Let's all connect with each other now.

Other Social Networking/Collaboration Sites

  1. Go to classroom20.com
  2. Click on "Join Classroom 2.0 Now!" which can be found on the right toolbar.
  3. Choose a Ning ID and password. Consider using the same one as you used for Twitter.
  4. Upload your photo.
  5. Click the box that says "I agree to Ning's Terms of Service." Read the terms before clicking.
  6. Click on Sign Up.
  7. Let's invite each other to be our "friends".
  8. Now let's all find a forum and add something to the discussion.
At Home:
  1. Set up your page. Add a blog. Talk about what you hope to learn from Classroom 2.0 or any other tool we've discussed.
  2. Join a group or two.
  3. Find another friend on the site that isn't in our class.
  4. Set up your privacy and Email Settings.

Skype

  1. Set up a Skype account.
  2. Go to skype.com.
  3. Click on "download"
  4. Follow the directions. Choose only settings for "free".
  5. Choose a skype name and password. Again, consider using the same one as Twitter and Classroom 2.0.
